Camera

The camera used for this game is third-person and side-scrolling. It moves automatically so that the character the player controls is always in the center of the screen. The camera has two different modes, which apply depending on the character currently being controlled: normal mode when in control of the Lamplighter, and Flit mode when in control of Flit.

Normal mode

The aperture of the camera in normal mode is [9] units. The camera in normal mode does not track the player vertically. Therefore an offset exists, where the Lamplighter starts in its vertical lower third, not its middle, in order to allow for more complex, multilevel stage design.

Flit mode

Whenever the player summons Flit, the game switches to this camera. If Flit is unsummoned, the camera will revert to normal mode. This mode has a smaller aperture, only [5] units. This camera tracks Flit instead of the player, and does have the capability to vertically track the character. In this camera view, the player is unable to interact with the elements that they could while in control of the Lamplighter, such as sconces, light orbs, and the light flower. This camera has no offset, and as such Flit will always be in the middle of the screen, both vertically and horizontally. In this view, Flit's fuel bar will always be active.
